Reality-show star Paris Hilton got a sobering bit of her own reality today when a Superior Court Judge sentenced the partying socialite to 45 days in jail. The sentence was handed down as a result of Hilton's violation of her parole, which stemmed from a September traffic violation, reports the Associated Press.
Judge Michael T. Sauer will not let the star out on any work release, electronic monitoring system, or other loophole. Hilton will begin serving time on June 5 at a Lynwood, California, prison for women. As is the case for high-profile inmates, Hilton will be separated from other jailbirds for her own safety.
"I'm very sorry and from now on I'm going to pay complete attention to everything," Hilton told the judge just before her sentence was read. "I'm sorry and I did not do it on purpose at all."
The 26-year-old was stopped last September and charged with driving under the influence. She later pleaded no contest to the charges and was placed on 36 months of probation and fined. A few weeks later, Hilton was pulled over for driving sans headlights when police realized her license was suspended. District attorneys then asked a judge to send her to prison.
Hilton's attorney, Howard Weitzman, said they will appeal.
